That’s every running play that is in and every play-action that’s in. There is a lot of time devoted toward the detail of the play. The talents of the players make the play go and then the detail lets the play really shine. It was his fifth game of the season with at least five catches, and he has 342 yards since Week 6. Smith tallied four catches of 10-plus yards in Week 11, including two grabs of 20-plus yards. He secured a 41-yard contested catch in the fourth quarter and was stopped one yard shy of his fifth touchdown of the season. Smith averaged 3.54 yards per route run and finished with a 116.1 passer rating when targeted.

Jones took 57% of the Eagles’ snaps in Monday night’s game against the Chiefs. It was almost double his previous season-high snap count. With tight end Dallas Goedert out with a right forearm fracture, Jones could see increased playing time over the next few weeks. Given his age, this might come as a surprise to some, but not to those who have seen his selfless game and meticulous work ethic up close. Brown knows Jones’ value better than anyone. He knows it doesn’t just show up on Sundays. It’s omnipresent. “He’s a great human being,” Brown said. “I’m still learning from him. I’m still trying to soak in as much as I can. It isn’t such that people are wrong in wanting more from Gabe Davis as receiver — especially as a featured WR2 who often sees near-complete or better snap percentages in each game. Davis’ catch rate in the role as WR2 isn’t good enough at this point, and it should need to improve if he’s going to remain as the second look at outside receiver. It’s fair to wonder if the book’s been written on him, or if there’s still time to change the narrative. What I’m suggesting is that more people simply give Gabe Davis the opportunity to show what he can do with a different offensive coordinator in place. Yes, with Brady running things, Davis put together his worst stat line in the NFL. But again, was that by design due to the Jets’ defense? Was Kincaid being utilized more as a pseudo-tight end, filling the role lost in looks where tight end Dawson Knox might normally be utilized?

The Cowboys are down a linebacker after placing veteran Leighton Vander Esch on injured reserve Oct. 16 with a season-ending neck injury. Veteran linebacker Shaquille Leonard surprisingly became a free agent this week after clearing waivers. The Colts cut Leonard on Monday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after Thursday’s blowout of the Commanders that the front office had a “short meeting” about Leonard before the game. “We’ll see how we do with our evaluation and look at him pretty good,” Jones said. “[We’ll] look at some health things [with Leonard]. I know a lot of teams are looking at him, so I don’t want to give an indication of the degree of our interest with him.”

5. DEFENSE COULDN’T GET OFF THE FIELD. The final score screams dominance, but we know better. This game had its share of stress throughout the first three quarters. The reason for this is that the Cowboys’ defense couldn’t seem to get off the field. Excluding the end-of-half possession, Washington’s first six possessions all went for at least six plays and helped them hold a significant time of possession advantage of 37 minutes compared to just 23 for the Cowboys. The Commanders weren’t putting up many points, but they made it hard for the Cowboys’ defense to get off the field and kept them in it for the great majority of the game.

The Washington Commanders are 4-8 and were blown out on a nationally-televised Thanksgiving game by the Dallas Cowboys 45-10. Changes have been needed in Washington for a while, but new owner Josh Harris has been evaluating the entire organization since taking over in late July. Rivera is almost certainly gone after the season, but Del Rio gets the axe today after yesterday’s performance, and a loss to the Tommy DeVito-led Giants 5 days ago.

It might seem tempting for the Giants to abandon the run against the Patriots. After all, that’s the strength of New England’s defense. Their 97.7 rush yards per game allowed is the ninth-best in the NFL, and both their rush defense DVOA and PFF run defense grade rank sixth. Still, as the Giants have seen through much of the season, choosing not to run altogether is a bad idea. To keep attempting that balanced attack often helps the run break through later in the game. That was visible against the Commanders when Barkley did not have a single rushing yard before the final play of the third quarter; he finished with 14 carries for 83 yards, including two breakaways. The Giants should definitely pass more than run, but they should not completely let go of trying to run the ball.

If you’ve ever thought that billionaires might be out of touch with society then Colts owner Jim Irsay just raised the bar higher than you could possibly imagine. Appearing on Real Sports with Bryant Gumble on Tuesday night, Irsay said that his 2014 DUI arrest was because he was “prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire.” Irsay was arrested by Carmel, Indiana police in March of 2014 after he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Colts owner failed numerous field sobriety tests, and upon a routine search of his vehicle police found numerous pill bottles containing Schedule IV narcotics. Irsay was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, and four felony counts for possession of a controlled substance. However Irsay told Andrea Kremer his arrest was actually because he’s a rich white man.
