Manchester City vs. Dortmund score: Phil Foden's late goal gives English side Champions League advantage - CBSSports.com

Manchester City defeated Dortmund 2-1 in their first-leg quarterfinal on Tuesday as Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Marco Reus scored goals during the match.  Pep Guardiola's side appeared to be in control for large stretches of the match with strong possession of the ball and established tempo. Dortmund seemed content to concede possession initially in an effort to establish their own play-making in front of goal.

Manchester City earned the opening goal on an error from Emre Can in the midfield as De Bruyne initiated the build up with Riyad Marhrez feeding the ball back for the assist.

Some questionable officiating ahead of halftime provided some dramatics, as City carried a one-goal lead into the break with Dortmund unlucky to not have an equalizer.

Dortmund played their way into the match during the second half. A late-game equalizer for Dortmund from Reus sparked hope with a potential crucial away goal in the 84th minute.

But Foden's strong effort on the ball paid off with an open-net goal after a cross from De Bryune and a cheeky assist by Gundogan in the 90th minute.
