NFL odds, lines, picks, spreads, bets, predictions for Week 8 2023: Model backing Eagles, Lions - CBS Sports

USATSI

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 6-1 start and now will visit the Washington Commanders in a NFC East rivalry on Sunday. The Eagles have won five of their last six games on the road against the Commanders and Washington has recorded just three wins in its last 13 contests against opponents from the NFC East. According to the latest Week 8 NFL odds from the SportsLine consensus, the Eagles are favored by 6.5 points on the road. Should your Week 8 NFL picks include backing the Eagles to cover one of the largest NFL spreads of the week, or are you better off targeting another favorite like the Cowboys (-6) at home against the Rams? All of the Week 8 NFL lines are listed below, and SportsLine's advanced computer model has all the NFL betting advice and NFL predictions you need to make the best Week 8 NFL picks now.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up well over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception. The model enters Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season on an incredible 173-122 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season. It is also on a 27-14 roll on top-rated NFL picks since Week 7 of last season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past six years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94% of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 8 NFL odds and locked in picks for every NFL matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top Week 8 NFL predictions

We can tell you one of the model's strongest Week 8 NFL picks is that the Eagles (-6.5) cover against the Commanders. Washington managed a cover in Philadelphia earlier this season, but the Eagles are coming off a dominant bounce-back win over the Dolphins on Sunday Night Football in Week 7.

In a battle between a pair of 5-1 teams, Philadelphia bottled up Miami's high-powered offense, allowing only 244 yards of total offense and 17 points in a 31-17 win. The Eagles had four sacks and eight tackles for a loss in the game. Ten penalties against the Dolphins also contributed to Mike McDaniel's offense playing behind the sticks. The model is expecting Philadelphia to put Washington into a similar position and calling for another huge game for A.J. Brown. After catching 10 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown, the Eagles' receiver catches five passes for 94 yards and a score as Philadelphia covers in nearly 60% of simulations. See which other teams to pick here.

Another one of its Week 8 NFL predictions: The Lions (-8.5) cover the spread at home versus the Raiders on Monday Night Football. The Lions are coming off a lopsided loss to the Ravens, so Dan Campbell's team will want to make a statement in front of their home fans in primetime. The Lions are 4-1 in their last five games and 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games at home. The Raiders, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five games against the Lions and are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games on the road.

Detroit is led by quarterback Jared Goff, who's thrown for 1,902 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. The former No. 1 pick leads a Detroit offense that is averaging 377.0 yards per game, which ranks fourth in the NFL. He's thrown three touchdown passes in two of his first three games at home and SportsLine's model expects he'll throw for over 250 yards and two scores on Monday, helping the Lions cover well over 50% of the time. See which other teams to pick here.

How to make Week 8 NFL picks

The model has also made the call on who wins and covers in every other game on the Week 8 NFL schedule and revealed three coveted A-rated picks. You can only get every pick for every game at SportsLine.
