Bills QB Josh Allen connects with WR Gabe Davis for mind-bending one-handed TD catch - Yahoo Sports

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis has been dealing with an ankle issue, but you wouldn't have known it on Sunday. Davis was nimble on his feet, and alongside quarterback Josh Allen, helped the Bills bring in two long, mind-bending touchdowns in the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The second touchdown was the more impressive of the two, not because of the distance, but because of the degree of difficulty. Allen launched the pass from the Bills' own 30-yard line on first-and-10 with under 10 minutes left in the half. The ball arced beautifully through the air and found Davis — or at least his right hand — waiting at the 15-yard line. Davis was on the run and had to reach out with only his right hand to catch it. He managed to corral it into his chest and take it into the end zone, even with Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick trying to grab it out of his arms.

The second TD of the first half was more exciting, but the the first TD, which happened before a full minute had come off the clock, actually tied a Bills franchise record. Buffalo was forced to start at the own 2-yard line due to a dropped kickoff return, but it didn't seem to bother Allen or anyone else on the team. In the first drive of the game, Allen unleashed a bomb. Davis snatched it out of the air around the 40-yard line and just ran and ran and ran, all the way into the end zone at the opposite end of the field for a 98-yard touchdown.

That's the longest TD pass of the season and it tied the Bills' franchise record for longest touchdown pass. The record Allen and Davis tied was set over a decade ago by a few guys with names you might recognize: Terrell Owens and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

That TD pass was also the longest reception since 2016, according to Pro Football Reference.

Fantasy owners who had the courage to start Davis today were rewarded very early. Those who left him on their benches will be able to only stare longingly at his point total and wonder what could have been.
