After what many considered to be an underwhelming regular season, the Hawks snuck into the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament as the No. 9 seed.

While Trae Young has put together another stellar campaign, Atlanta’s complementary players have shuffled in and out of the lineup due to various injuries. Hunter, arguably their best defensive player, is no exception.

The third-year pro averaged 13.4 points per game on the season, but was limited to only 53 games. In his last 30 games when he registered at least 28 minutes of floor time, Hunter exceeded this total 18 times.

Hunter should be in line for a big workload tonight, especially against the Hornets high-powered offensive attack. While Charlotte’s defense has been up-and-down over the course of the season, their defense against point guards (allowing the fifth-fewest points per game) has been consistently excellent.

I expect Charlotte to key in on Young and allow the Hawks’ secondary scorers to beat them. It’s a situation Hunter has taken advantage of in the past, notching at least 17 points in his last four games against the Hornets. I expect many clean looks for the Virginia alum tonight – I have Hunter projected at 17 points.

Pick: De’Andre Hunter over 14.5 points | Also playable: Over 19.5 points, rebounds and assists.
