The Final Four is officially set with Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Villanova winning their respective regions. When the four blue bloods won their respective regions on Saturday and Sunday, one bettor ended up making a ton of money.
Earlier in March, a bettor placed a $25 wager predicting those exact four teams as each of the four region winners. As such, the bettor is now $43,218 richer.
On Saturday, No. 2 seed Villanova was the first team to advance to the Final Four when they topped No. 5 seed Houston, 50-44. However, the victory came at a price as star guard Justin Moore ruptured his Achilles tendon in the final seconds of the game. Meanwhile, No. 2 seed Duke capped off the night with a convincing 78-69 win over No. 4 seed Arkansas behind a team-high 18 points from forward AJ Griffin.
On the other hand, Kansas, who is the only No. 1 seed remaining in the NCAA Tournament field, outscored No. 10 seed Miami (Fla.) 47-15 second half en route to a dominant 76-50 win on Sunday. In addition, No. 8 North Carolina ended No. 15 seed Saint Peter's magical run with a 69-49 win behind forward Armando Bacot, who scored 20 points and grabbed 22 rebounds.
This bettor was certainly aided by the fact that top seeds Arizona, Baylor and Gonzaga were eliminated, but still -- hitting a parlay like this on a $25 bet is downright impressive.
