The Vikings hired former Browns vice president of football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as the team’s new general manager, The Athletic confirmed. He replaces Rick Spielman, who was fired by the team shortly after the end of the 2021 season. The news was first reported by ESPN.
The 40-year-old Adofo-Mensah leaves the Browns after two seasons with the team. He made his mark as an analytics guru with the 49ers before going to the Browns. He served as the Niners’ manager of football research and development (2013-2016) and advanced to the team’s director of football research and development (2017-2019).
Adofo-Mensah played basketball and graduated from Princeton with an economics degree. He received his master’s degree in the same field from Stanford.
Ryan Poles was reportedly the Vikings’ other finalist for the job. Poles accepted the Bears’ GM position.
